Before environmental watering began at Plush’s Bend, the site contained many young trees which were stressed and mature trees that had died. The before and after environmental water delivery photos below show a significant growth in river red gum saplings and other vegetation since watering commenced.
Since watering commenced in April 2020, native species abundance and diversity has increased significantly. During surveys a total of 24 waterbird species, 24 woodland bird species and 6 frog species, including the threatened Southern Bell Frog (Ranoidea raniformis), have been recorded, signifying the site’s journey to rehabilitation.
