Native birds
There are 84 bird species that have been recorded during surveys at the Trust’s environmental water sites. Around half of these are wetland birds that live in and around the water, and the other half are woodland birds that live in areas adjacent to the water.
This is a non-exhaustive guide for common wetland and woodland bird species that are seen in and around the Trust’s environmental water sites. Some species are more likely to be found at certain sites than others, depending on the site characteristics.

Native plants
There are 101 plant species that have been recorded during surveys at the Trust’s environmental water sites. 22 of these species are regarded as introduced to the area.
This is a non-exhaustive guide for common plants found at the Trust’s environmental water sites. Not all species will be present at sites during both wet and dry periods as flood-dependent species will follow “boom and bust” cycles depending on water levels.
